PROBLEMS ON WARREN STREET - The City Council has asked Mayor Thomas G. Ambrosino to request the police chief to increase patrols on Warren Street because of recent vandalism, including the slashing of car tires. The council also has asked the fire chief and the director of Inspectional Services to condemn 60 Warren St. and consider taking it by eminent domain. Councilor George Rotondo said 60 Warren St. has been a public safety concern since it was closed after a fire about six months ago. Rotondo said the privately owned building is in foreclosure and is covered with street gang graffiti. Neighborhood adolescents also congregate inside, Rotondo said. He added that he hopes the city takes the building and converts it into affordable housing. - Katheleen Conti
