REVERE - Lt. David Callahan of the Revere Police Department was awarded a certificate of merit at the city council meeting Monday night.

Callahan was cited for his involvement in saving numerous lives when a gasoline tanker crashed on Route 1 in Saugus on July 23.

“He went to victims that were trapped in cars while the inferno was going on,” City Councilor at Large George Rotondo said. “He is exactly what is good and commendable about the Revere Police.”
